For this month’s bookmark choices I tried a few new things. I found this great black fabric which was very easy to work with so I’ll definitely be using more of it in the future. I also tried a new finishing technique by fringing the side edges. Hopefully this will make them slightly thinner since the technique I was using made them a little thicker than I like. I still wanted to add a tassel though, so the top and bottom are not fringed.
The first bookmark is Elizabeth I’s coronation. This is the first one that I have made with more than a few colors using the software that I bought to make patterns. It’s not perfect – the hand around the orb looks a little funky, but overall, I’m pleased with how it turned out. Please note that the face is not as washed out as it looks in the picture.
The second choice is of a pattern I found on the internet called “Stretch the Dragon”. This uses a lot of blended colors (1 strand each of two different colors) as well as some gold blending filament to give him some sparkle.
