Tanzanite's Bookmark Giveaway - June

Wednesday, June 2, 2010
So here it is June already - how did that happen so fast?  This month's winner will get their choice of one of the following bookmarks.  To enter, just leave a comment by June 30, 2010 and make sure to include your email address if it's not easy to find on your blog, if you don't a blog or if your profile is not public.  That makes it easier for me to contact you if you win!!  The winner will have 48 hours to get back to me with their choice and mailing address.  International entrants are welcome!  Good luck and thanks for entering.

A few months ago I featured a blackwork design and people seemed to like it so I did another one for this month only instead of black I did it in a pretty shade of burgundy.

Several weeks ago Robyn featured some of Susan Herbert's cute pictures of famous people, paintings etc as cats.  I thought they would make cute bookmarks so I decided to try one and see how it turned out.  This one is a little wider than most (about 3")  and I've discovered some great banded fabric to use that eliminates the need to fold it over on two sides.  Just for comparison, below is the picture that this is based on (the real one and Herberts).  I think I"ll do more of these in the future - there's a great one of Henry VIII that I'm dying to do!

The bookmarks look fantastic! The cat one turned out adorable! Susan Herbert has several books out that feature different themes but are all cats. I don't know if they are still available on Amazon or not, though. :)

    Daphne, you are so talented!
I think if I was stitching bookmarks to your standard I'd want to keep them to myself! How long does it take you to make one?
    I'd love to enter!

Your bookmarks are so beautiful, it must be painful to part with them. I love the blackwork one, it's something I've been meaning to try for years.

Shannon - I LOVE that your 2 year old likes the music. You may need to buy some Renaissance music CDs!

Elizabeth - I'm frankly not sure what I would do with all of them. I'm one of those people that needs to keep my hands busy and this is better than eating or smoking!! It really varies on how long it takes. The "blackwork" ones are actually very quick since they are a series of backstitches rather than full cross stitch so those take 3-5 days. The others take considerably longer (depending on how much "free" time I have) - I think the cat one took me a little more than 3 weeks.

Grapevine - Maybe just a little painful, but I would rather someone enjoy them than have them pile up here! I like giving them away though. When I get enough stockpiled, I have a few larger medieval tapestry type pieces that I'm thinking about working on for around the house.
