Tanzanite's Bookmark Giveaway - August

Monday, August 2, 2010

It's hard to believe it's August already - where has this year gone??  It's been much hotter in Denver than normal and the intensity of the sun here has made it almost unbearable to be outside for long so Tanzy and I have been stitching away.  Although she has found a new cuddle buddy (my daughter), I've been trying not to take it personally!!

One winner will have their choice of one of the following bookmarks.  To enter, please leave a comment with your email address by midnight August 31, 2010.  International entrants and previous winners are all welcome and the winner will have 48 hours to notify me of their choice and mailing address or another winner will be selected.

This is another variation on a "blackwork" pattern.  I really like the cream on the red background.

This turned out to be one of my more ambitious choices - John William Waterhouse's Ophelia.  It was initially planned to be a selection for July, but it ended up taking me a lot longer to finish than I expected.  You can't tell from the picture, but there is silver trim on both sides of the bookmark (and not just on the left as it appears).  And yes, the bottom is a little off - it's actually the bottom of the boomark itself and not the stitching.  I'm not exactly sure what happened but since I use fusible web on the back, once it's done, it's pretty much done.  I guess this is where I should put the disclaimer about "imperfections being an inherent part of a handmade product." :)

Beautiful! I like the red and cream design, but I'm a sucker for romantical paintings depicting scenes of yore, so I'd pick Ophelia.

So it's hot in Denver, huh? Oh, joy. I'll be there next week for a week's visit with my nieces and my sister who's flying in from NC. Funny, the rest of the country's sweltering, and L.A. is relatively temperate, mostly getting to the low 80s during the days.

    Thanks! Mary
