The Year in Review - 2010

Monday, January 3, 2011

Well, here we are - the third day of 2011 and I am running really behind but hopefully I"ll get things caught up here in the next few days.  In 2010 I read 53 books - a lot fewer than I would have liked, but I also tried not to let my life be run by reading and review schedules.  Of the 53, 24 books were published in 2010 and I read only 5 that were non-fiction.

I read a lot of good books in 2010 and fortunately, there weren't that many disappointments, but here were my 5 favorite:

I bought way more books than I read - my personal library is now close to 600 books and I really need to try and do something to get that under control.  I had hoped (OK, not really...) that the sagging shelves of my bookcases would help keep me from buying more books, but then my husband went and built me this for Christmas:

Now, if there is one thing I can't stand, it is empty shelves.   I told my husband I hoped he realized that.  He just smiled and said "of course".  I love that man!!

For 2011 I"m not planning any big changes - things will pretty much run the same around here as before.  There will be a slight change to the bookmark giveaways (January's will be posted in a few days) but it should be a good change.  I'm also planning to keep adding to everyone's toppling wishlists - mine included!!  Gotta fill up those shelves ya know!

Here's to a wonderful 2011 - may yours be filled with happiness, peace, prosperity, love and of course, books!!

Your husband is a smart man to realize that book buying is a very benign and innocent habit, and one that he should encourage! He does beautiful woodwork.

Nice bookcase. For some reason I can't see book #2, it won't display either in reader or the main blog page :/

Miss Moppet and Joanne - I"m sure I won't have any trouble finding books to fill it up!!

Christine - I always tell him books are cheaper than shoes!! He is indeed very talented when it comes to building things like this. He keeps wishing he could quit his job and just do woodworking full time. Maybe some day...

Misfit - not sure what the problem is there, but the book is The Confessions of Catherine de Medici.
