My new job has been keeping me pretty busy and so I have managed to fall really behind in my reviews - I have six I need to write and two to finish! I'm hoping to make some real progress on it this weekend. In the meantime, I thought I would share some pictures from the North Carolina Renaissance Festival that hubby and I attended last weekend. We had never been to one before and it was a lot of fun. And the turkey leg was pretty darn good!
The King and Queen of the festival. We got to the festival shortly after they opened and in the first tent the king and queen were explaining some of the rules of the place and talking about the different events that would be going on. There was probably 10 or so stages set up around the grounds with comedy acts, music, theatre, demonstrations, etc.

The joust
The winner. He reminds me of the guy who played King Arthur in the recently cancelled Starz series, Camelot.
This made me laugh.
We were really surprised at how big this place was - filled with all sorts of quaint medieval looking buildings.
I'm hoping we can go back again!
I wish I could do something like this. Nothing ever comes here...

Wow...I lived in Charlotte for 15 years and never attended this festival...how sad am I ;} My niece used to go all the time and she never relayed that this was so nice...I was worried that it was just an excuse to drink. In the past I've gone to festivals and that's all they were. Thanks for sharing, fondly, Roberta

I went to a huge one in Plantersville TX last year. LOVED it and can't wait to go back. Try looking on Etsy for the costumes. They have lots of people who custom make them :)

I am determined to get to Charlotte and go to this one. My dress is a heavy damask and satin and the Atlanta one is in the Spring. :(
Love that the knights in the joust there have on ACTUAL armor. :) I'll see if the lady who made my dress is still in business. I found her on ebay. :)

I have to attend one of these -- my son's school went to a Renaissance Festival but I was unable to go along. The jousting looks interesting! LOL at the "pirate's wench" outfit! ;)
