growing ever more ruthless.
For love and for
country, all is put at risk-and together the pair must call upon their every
ounce of courage and cunning in order to survive.

requires every ounce of his legendary self-control.

I read Turning of Anne Merrick and thought it was pretty good! Will be happy to read more about Jack and Anne in future.

Bodice-ripping covers. So often I walk right past them, only to find out later they hid a good story. Definitely that adage is true...you can't tell a book by its cover.
Who knows..."Masques of Gold" may actually be great historical fiction. However, I do have a problem with the sentence "...from the beautiful temptress" and "...his legendary self-control" *sigh*

I read "Masques of Gold" for the 2011 HF challenge. My copy had a total bodice ripper cover, and honestly, it's pretty much true.
I loved "Blue Ridge Midwife" - I have "The Tory Widow" on my nightstand, but have heard it isn't as great as Midwife.
